THE Civil Aviation Authority advises that it has pulled 1time’s Cat II status.
The airline is now limited to a Cat I landing approach. The CAA explains that this means on an ‘Instrument Landing System’ approach, 1time may descend to 200ft above ground level and require forward visibility of 550 metres.
“This will have very little effect on 1time’s airline operation, as only OR Tambo and Cape Town airports are capable of handling Cat II approaches,” explained Phindiwe Gwebu, CAA spokesperson.
1time ceo, Rodney James, told eTNW the airline would have re-secured its Cat II status in time for the more unsettled winter weather conditions in Cape Town. “This also has no impact on our regional expansion plans,” said Rodney.
