10-Nov-2010 Acting on behalf of ALS Ltd of Kenya, Skyworld Aviation has successfully placed an Embraer ERJ 135 LR, 5Y-BVZ, on a 1 year ACMI lease contract with Fly 6ix of Sierra Leone.

Skyworld Aviation originally arranged the sale of serial number 145661 to ALS Ltd two years ago on behalf of Republic Airlines.

The aircraft arrived at Fly 6ix’s operational base at Lungi International Airport in Freetown on 8th November 2010. The local market is currently largely served with higher capacity aircraft with low frequency flights and Fly6ix have identified a niche for more regular flights with smaller aircraft. The new addition to the fleet will operate a regular daily service to major regional capitals in seven countries in West Africa. The airline is effectively the ‘flag carrier’ of Sierra Leone and prides itself in creating job opportunities in the local communities.

Skyworld Aviation has worked with ALS Ltd for many years, originally placing a Dornier 228 with the Nairobi-based firm in 2003. The operator is a wet lease provider, operating contracts for resource industry clients and United Nations aid agencies in Africa. The airline also flies a scheduled operation from its based in Nairobi. Their fleet now totals 26 aircraft, mainly comprising of Beech 1900’s, Dash 8-100’s and two ERJ 135’s.
